[Closed] Would scripters be interested in a weekly MAXSCRIPT CHALLENGE?
I’ve noticed that more and more people are diving into the scary but fun world of scripting. I was wondering if you all would be interested in a weekly challenge to improve and diversify your scripting skills, in the same way the Daily Sketch Group and the Modelling mini challenges help out areas of artisitic skills.
I’m not certain on the judging of the whole thing (Maybe Bobo and Swami can drop in from time to time!), but the general use of this isn’t to win, it’s to complete the task to make you think about new ways of scripting.
The general idea would be this: Someone posts up a specific programming task. It doesn’t have to be a tool or even anything useful, just something that would be possible to do inside maxscript. For example, it could be a function to render each object in a scene individually by name, or create a box “city” given a text file of various building heights, and so forth.
If you would be so kind, vote and add a comment of what you think.
Heh… given your scripting skills, you should probably judge as well as participate! I’m STILL waiting for work to buy my two licenses of Polyboost!
Well, thanks, I always like a challenge though, looking forward to seeing the first topic.
2 copies of PolyBoost are waiting for you.

Okay! There seems to be enough people interested to make this worthwhile. I’ll set something up for Monday. Any topic suggestions are welcome!
He, that could be cool.
If the challenges aren’t too big I hope to attend a few.

Sounds really great, hope to join in!
Could be cool if it where small functional tools, in different areas of 3dsmax.
Sounds like fun. Hopefully I can find the time, and not embarase myself too much with what I come up with.
Heh… I wouldn’t worry too much. I would guess that more than half the people who frequent the maxscript forum only know scripting at a basic to intermediate level (myself included!). That’s pretty much why I’m doing these challenges; to make us all better!
