transform gizmo that moves with the selection or one that remains in the initial edit position then snaps to the finished position at the end of the edit ?

Move along with the transform for me. Gives a better sense direction and distance. I wonder why you ask?

I wonder why you ask

i was implementing some custom subobject edit move/rotate/scale stuff, and it’s “normal” practice in max for subobject editing to use the latter and for the object level to use the former, I guess I really haven’t given it much thought and was curious to what the general consensus was on it.

though thats not strictly true, some sub object edits do use the first method (usually whole gizmo and such)

Transform gizmo should move with the subject of transform. That’s how max’s original gizmo works as I remember

it’s lucky cgsoc forumites don’t make up the voting population 73 views and only 2 have a preference !

Transform Gizmo that moves with the selection.

+1

Sorry @Klvnk.

I do some scripts, but I don’t work with 3DMax.
My vote wouldn’t be a true one!

Instant feedback is better than delayed feedback, but it has a cost.
Whenever possible, move the gizmo to provide instant feedback.

However, I do not understand how it would be in your case. Perhaps in some cases, having instant feedback would be more annoying than useful? In such cases perhaps there could be an option “hide gizmo”?

Yes, direct feedback is what I like to see.
