[Closed] version help
Hi all
I remember reading in maxscript user manual that it can help in handling max files from latest versions.
Is their any way that we can open/merge objects from latest versions
like from max9 to max2008.
If their is a way out please guide me.
Thanks in advance
You can always directly merge older version files into newer versions of max.
You can still merge max3 files in 4,5,6,7,8,9,2008.
But not the other way around at least not without an intermediate like obj, 3ds, fbx, bff etc.
Does this help, otherwise I didn’t understand the question very well

Thanks for the quick response Johan
I have a scene done in max2008 but for some reason max2008 is crashing, because of time shedule I cant recreate the scene.
If their is a way to open the same file in max9 this could save lot of time.
please guide me
No there isn’t, but maybe you can try to merge the old scene in a new scene.
If you go about one object at a time, maybe you can find out which object is corrupt.
If merge doesn’t work with the old file, then you can be sure it’s completly corrupted and you’ll have to do all the work again.
Point of advice, save many versions as you work on a file… on a daily basis I create somewhere between 5 to 20 versions of a file… later on I’ll toss away stuff I don’t need… it’s not uncommon that whe’re working on version 180 of a particular file.
Good luck!
