[Closed] Spider script
I have never used max scripts before and I was wondering if anyone could help me to get a script i found to work properly? The script is located at this web site:

I’m going to suggest that you contact Andy. I haven’t seen him around here in a long time so I don’t think that he is going to see this.
I have tried to send him an email but hi doesn’t reply. I don’t know how else I can contact him.

looking at the script it is made to work with the SpiderWalk.max file. So open that…then Run the SpiderROF.ms file from the Maxscript menu. This will open the dialogue for the script. If you unhideall in the SpiderWalk.max file you will see a tree and various ground terrains to play with. Create a point helper and place it at the top of the tree, use the pick ground button and select the tree, then use the Seek Object to select the point helper. Hit the DO It button and the spider will climb the tree ‘hopefully’
Thanks! Got it working now.
Any idea how to get it to work with a different spider/file?
I had a quick look through and that script looks pretty linked to the rig of the spider in the file, as it uses direct naming conventions, unless you know how to script I’d look at other ways of doing it…the easier way would be to remodel the geometry without breaking any linkage.
As good a script as that is, there are very easy ways to achieve the same thing. CAT comes with a Spider rig and it’s extremely easy to get it to follow an object over a terrain – which is what this script does.(2010 subscription or 2011 are needed though) Maybe explain your end goal unless learning to script is your goal – which is never a bad thing.
