[Closed] Selecting every other edge

Hello, I’m wondering if it would be easy to write a script that selects every other edge in an edgeloop or a edgering? A script like that would really speed up my workflow. As an example: if you want to extrude/bevel long strips of polygons around a cylinder or a loft you will need to select every other row of polys and extrude, then select the other rows and extrude and the selecting process is pretty tedious. Anybody interested in helping out?
