[Closed] searching the masxscript help file

hello everyone,

I maybe missing something but how do you do a search in maxscript help file now ? the search function will now search for the entire knowlegde base, and I couldn’t find how to to limit it to the maxscript help file… (max 2013)

I’m speaking of this help file

the online version is annoying at best imo. I highly recommend downloading and using the chm version.

The search is just broken (not really sure since when, a day or two ago, maybe) for online maxscript reference for max 2013 and above, it works for 2012 though: http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/14/ENU/MAXScript Help 2012/

I have never found Max script help searches to be usable. Even when it ‘works’ , searches rarely yield useful results, at least for me. Usually I use the index for accurate and relevant results.

If you want fun times try searching the literal name of a max script keyword or command and see how far down the results you have to go before the page that explains that command actually shows up.

Thanks guys, glad to see I didn’t become crazy …

I’ll follow Gravey’s advice and stick to the CHM version

Mambo4 : I agree the search function could be improved… still I use it quite a lot, especially when I can’t remember the name of a function… a search with keywords about what it supposed to do usually gives quite good results… if you can search only the maxscript help file.
