[Closed] Scripted Material Plugin and Mental Ray
I have a very simple Scripted Material Plugin which works fine with Scanline and Vray but if you try in MentalRay it gives a render error saying it’s not supported and doesn’t render the object.
Anyone know of a way around this?
What version of 3ds max? I know in the past I reported and had fixed an issue related to scripted maps, but don’t remember testing materials.

I’m extending the Shell material and the Shell Material works with mental Ray. There isn’t a Mental Ray version of a Shell material as far as I know.
What about trying a Blend Material? Just swap your percentage. You lose the Viewport/Render option, but may work.
I checked the 3dsmaxshaders.mi and the Shell Material isn’t a defined material that I can find, but is considered compatible. Not sure what is up with that.

Thanks Eric, Blend material works with Mental Ray and only required one line of code to be adjust to switch from Shell to Blend, so I’ll work with that.
