[Closed] saveNodes – includes parent?

Hi, I’m doing some testing with saveNodes and have run into an unexpected problem.

Whenever I use saveNodes, it correctly saves the selected objects (I’m using saveNodes $). However, the saved file also includes the parent of $, despite it not being selected when I run saveNodes. I can’t find anything in the reference about this, so is this intended behavior for saveNodes?
