[Closed] Problem with rotation and a bug?
My problem is that when I rotate, even though I have an object selected, it does not rotate around that object, and sometimes, the camera just bounces off to nowhere, where I have to zoom out and zoom back in to find my object. (Using Alt+MMB to rotate).
I’m fairly new to 3Ds Max, so it might just be me not understanding something.
Another thing is, probably a bug, when I select a ponytail I’m working on, the screen where the Gizmo would appear, if I press for example W, turns gray and if I click in it, the camera bounces off to nowhere again.
REALLY ANNOYING ME! Please help
Well actually it’s like… When I go to the left when I rotate, It goes to the right and with a REALLY high sensitivity. When I started a new project, it worked in my main window, but in one window, it’s still that buggy… Is it a setting that makes it so uncomfortable?
Still a huge problem for me… It’s as if the camera is rotating around something huge in the distance… Not what I have selected
If your gizmo doens’t appear hit X. Make sure your pivot it centered properly, that might cause the camera to rotate weird. Also, make sure you don’t have any stray verts way off somewhere. If u did though, your bounding box should be very big usually.
I have encountered similar sounding problems rotating selected objects when Max (2009) is opened on a non-primary monitor in a multi-monitor setup.
I typically have a portrait monitor attached to a laptop and I suspect that mouse movements on the the non-standard desktop aren’t properly calibrated. The center of rotation in appears to be well off to the side of the objects.
If I drag the window back to the primary monitor (or designate the external monitor as the primary) things work just fine.
select perspective view and switch between yellow and white orbit tool after selecting an obj
if you still have the problem, also when zooming, possibly you have a very small object in the scene
When I find this issue I zoom straight to the obj (I set F and A shortcut to zoom obj and scene like maya do), then I use the field of view tool to get closer (tools are in the bottom right of max ui)
hope this helps
