set/get 20K verts for skin is not to bad. there are many ways how speed it up staying with pure mxs. and i’ve showed some of them on this forum.

skin modifier is very slow itself. all algorithms are not optimized, skinops interface is terribly slow. after rewriting most problem parts of its code i got +10 times performance vs max built-in

Well, I’m not a programmer. I don’t have the knowledge to rewrite things in max. I’m a 3D artist, and I wanted to use Daz3D’s TriAx skinning technique in 3dsMax. But this is harder than I thinked, so I give it up.
