I try to avoid at all costs rendering negative frames.

what render farm software are you using? if it’s backburner there is a limit to how many characters backburner will accept for the frames string. I don’t remember what the actual limit is but i did try something like this some time ago and couldnt do what i wanted due to the frames string limit

Have no fear Gravey its a custom build render farm manager.

How exactly are you implementing it? I’m building one myself at the moment.

it’s on my to-do list as well. I would also be interested in any details you can provide

Ahh well I’m not sure where to start, I’m at 25k lines of code :argh:

The structure is not unlike backburner. There’s a manager component, a server component and a monitor component.
All of them use the same core DLL library.

There’s a plugin for 3dsmax that handles the rendering part, and a script that interacts with the core DLL that handles job submission.

I could go on forever about the details, so let me know if there’s anything specific you want to know.
