[Closed] merging maps into vertex colors?

Just a quick question, I recall reading about such a script before.
Is it possible to create vertex colors from a a texture on the object.
I could do some very cool things if so.

You may try hacking bobo’s pflow tutorial on inheriting texel color or Johan Thorngren’s Arealight script to work for you.

Hope this helps some,

Thanks Eric. That may be a start. I have some rought idea how to do it, it’s easy to get the pixel colors from a pixel. I’m not sure how it is to get from a texture that is applied to an object.
So you are say on the finger, and want to check what color you have on the finger tip.
I recall seeing something about this in the help.

I just jacked in the optimizations for vertex painting in polyspeed, so now i’m looking for things to do with it. By accident I created a very cool masking tool for airbrush with it (that is fast too).

You can do this without a script. Just use the Assign Vertex Color” Utility select radio “Diffue” and only check “Use Maps”
