[Closed] maxscript to create shape from selected edges and export as dxf?

ok, so i have a model that i needto slice into layers, and then export the layers as individual dxf files. to do this, i set up an animation to the same number of frames as i need layers. move forward one layer, the slice plane of the slice modifier moves up one layer. the layers in this case are .008 inches. (the thickness of a peice of cardstock paper.)

then, under edit mesh, i select the edge button and use “select open edges” followed by “create shape from selection” to create a spline in the shape of the layer. i then need to export this spline as a dxf file. for a given model, i need to do this 250 times. clearly, automation is needed.

i have zero experience with maxscript, so i don’t even know if it’s the right tool to use. so before i spend a bunch of time trying to figure it out, i thought i’d come and ask you fine folk. any insight, helpful links, etc?

Look under section – superclass shape in the maxscript reference. there is an example script there that will help you quite a bit.
