[Closed] Max floating expression forwire parameters – help-
Hi everyone, this is my first post here on cg society.
I’m a french product design student at École Boulle in Paris, and i’m preparing a graduate about digital conception in product design with the aim to highlight something i would call th “digital thought”.
Anyway, for one of the concerning projects, i need to create some parametric effects. I’ve been watching with intereste a video tutorial from designreform about parameter wiring but i want something more complex…and the problem is that I’m a quite classic 3d modeler with no knowledge in scripting, programming and mathematics.
So I try to explain what i need :
I want to use a pattern grid (shape objects) that reacts to the position of a reference object, like a point as in the tutorial linked above. Theses patterns will move randomly like they are trying to escape from the reference object. So there might be a kind of a fallof area around the reference object. Also, theses patterns will rotate randomly and why not change also randomly their size. Theses operations have to be constrained to a defined area like a square area predefined.
So is there a nice enough person to help step by step making this concept functionnal?
I hope…
“Merci beaucoup” from Paris, France.
PS : sorry if my english is not perfect…
I think you are not getting a lot of feedback with posts like, I have this and this problem, please someone solve it, if you don’t show anything you have done already. You actually force people to think for you, and like most people helping out here, also having a job and a life, helping out “some student” who doesn’t think and try for himself, isn’t very appealing.
So my suggestion is you show us what you have already tried or you divide your problem in sub problems and try to fix those, working to a solution for your bigger problem.
I hope you see I don’t mean disrespect, but you should really think through your tech problems and questions a bit more. Show examples of what you have tried etc. then people are willing to help.
Cheers,
-Johan
Hi,
I’m not trying to find someone thinking for me. I’ve completed the tutorial mentionned, but i don’t know correct syntaxes for the floating expressions. With this tutorial, i have understood the basis of how organize constraints, but without the correct expression and function name, i can’t do anything more than what’s presented in the tutorial. I’m not a knowledge leech…
Cheers.
I think 3dsmax is not the program of choice when it comes to motion graphics. If you have the possibility go take a look at C4D and the mograph module. It’s been designed specifically for those tasks and does it very well.
If C4d is not an option I’d agree with JHN, please ask for sub problems.
Unfortunately, i never use C4D, and the few people I know which use this software are not advanced users, so they can only teach me the interface…
I’ll try to identify the sub problems and post them with examples and/or images.
Cheers
