Fractals from yours truly – actually, I spent the last 6 months co-developing this thing in a scripting language on top of a game engine. It is still in beta and might not work on non-nVidia cards (we are still testing it, feedback welcome!), but the full application has alot of potential. (the free download is a limited version, but quite capable to generate fun).
In short, it is a strange mix of a 3D browser, 3D screensaver and an Audio Visualization System with 6DOF navigation.

The full version supports scriptable particle systems (you can apply forces and control other parameters of tens of thousands of particles using compiled scripts!), rigid body dynamics, scriptable custom mesh modifiers (similar to the simpleMods in MAXScript), and of course the whole thing was developed using 3ds max (what else?) Lots of concepts (like animation controllers, modifiers etc.) are pretty similar.

The free Player can load all scenes from the full version, you just have less possibilities to customize things – most editors are disabled, but we have provided an alternative UI where you can adjust some scene-relevant parameters.

Runs on Win2K and XP (might run on ME, never tried).
Requires OpenGL 1.2 or higher, a sound card and a mouse (preferably a wheeled one).

Let me know if it does not run on your hardware, as we are looking for bug reports right now…

Here’s a bug report bobo, when shutting down (i used alt+f4 if that might be the problem) the “unloading module exec – please wait” message doesn’t go away and keeps on top, i’m trying to download reality3d’s script but the download window is underneath that massage so i can’t get there

Typed this whole message, waited a bit and answered a phone call but it’s still here, so the please wait either has to be changed to wait a really long time or it hangs.

Ok, i just killed the app via the taskmanager to get to your script reality3d.

Nice work, it would be cool if you could use it as a texturemap, it’s fun now, but not very useful.

Hmmm, never experienced that.
I am putting a QUIT button into the next version which will do Fast To Desktop. In the meantime, press SHIFT+F1 to open the general help, then click the last line (QUIT) and confirm the prompt… Will go straight to desktop without any side effects…

Interesting program and concept. There are some cool effects. But imho is not very intuitive(I don’t know yet once a “scene” is loaded what key I have to press to return to the main menu). Good luck with it!
