[Closed] LoneRobot.net Redux

Hello Peeps,

Although I’ve followed CGTalk without fail, I’ve been very remiss in the past few years about posting articles to my blog. I’ve got some (hopefully) useful posts in the pipeline (no pun intended) so I’ll be attempting to keep that going with a new post each month.

I’ve just finished an article about Regex that I’d been meaning to write for ages, so please feel free to comment and make any suggestions for new articles.

This is not meant to sound like a plug. The forum here has so many good posters at the moment, I just wanted to share as much interesting stuff from my day to day work and hopefully inspire people of all disciplines into scripting.

the regex is very powerful and useful thing… i’m thinking about a thread on this forum where we can put and find some cool regexs once were written. i will take a look at my archive and with pleasure share any cool.
it’s some kind of my stupidity probably – but i forget immediately what a regex does do next day i wrote it.

so… for every regex made i have a bookmark and comment.

Yessss !! LoneRobot is back !!

I want to thank you for sharing all this stuff and thank you for inspiring us ^^

Thank you Mhamed, you are most welcome.

I’ve added a subscription widget on the right of any post page now, If you want to be notified when new content arrives.

That’s a great article Pete,
I remember another post you made here on cgtalk with a few other cases of regex: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=7591005&postcount=12

Hi Klaas,

Thanks, and yes I really have been meaning to write this post up for a while.

Whilst I’m going to be adding new tutorials on a more regular basis, does anyone have any suggestions on articles they would like to see?

beginner
intermediate
advanced?

maxscript
dotnet
python?

I’m more than happy to tailor any tutorials to the specific needs from the scripters out there…

Let’s say a tutorial about polyop.setmapvert and polyop.setmapface.
There are no tutorials about them at all. I use these functions now because DenisT and PolyTools3D helped me, but I would like to understand them definitely.

A tutorial about universal pivot (put pivot to bottom, to top)- which will work for groups, lights with target and so on.

A tutorial – about distance between objects(groups) – not between their pivots or their center but the shortest distance with the possibility to put a certain distance between 2 objects.

A tutorial of creating custom high poly windows and doors just by selecting polygons that occupy the future window/door.

I can invent a lot of needed scripts and tutorials for them. You just need time and wish.

Good stuff, thanks for posting!
