Does anyone know of any maxscript solutions for handling kinect data and creating tracking points from it?

Check out the Brekel software, it will have FBX file IO.

Thank you but I have tried Brekel for face tracking and it does a very poor job.

have you got some sample data (csv) ?

I never bothered to save the data as I could see it was unstable. Disappointed as it had promise as low end solution…guess I will have to write my own version

I’d imagine the poor tracking was due to the limited scope of the Kinnect. Have you talked to Jasper at Brekel for help?

A few tips for Face v2:

- be as close to the sensor as possible so the most a mount of pixels are available for tracking
- flat frontal lighting with as few shadows as possible works best, a photographers soft box makes for a great lighting source
- make sure there is enough light so that the sensor doesn't automatically goes into 15 frames per second low lighting mode
- low lighting mode is determined by the darkest pixel in the image, so it's best to both light up your background and subject
- strong infrared light (for example sunlight) directly in the tracking volume can negatively impact tracking quality

The Kinect is a cheap (and noisy) consumer sensor though, so don’t expect miracles at this pricepoint.
A good step up that I can recommend personally is http://www.dynamixyz.com

Would like something between $200 “might work if you’re lucky” price and the $9000 “Only for major studios” price
