[Closed] iMaxScript
On the way home tonight, I had a great idea for a new function in my script, decided that I had to write it down and before I knew it I had written the entire script in maxscript… on my ipod touch… Quite possibly the most ridiculous platform to write a script on, predictive text was not helpful!
Can anyone top that for unusual script writing?
were you able to test it out, via remote service to your PC or something? Or you just wrote it, and hoped it that it will compile/work when u got to your computer?
I’d very much rather not do it on my iphone. Autocorrect/non physical keys would cause me to throw my phone out the window.
Sometimes I scribble code on my notebook (the paper version, that is), laying out functions and structs mostly, figuring out how to put everything together.

I’m like Johan, many times I have just written the structure of the code out in my note book. I thought about doing it on my iPhone but I figure the amount of errors from the bad key board and the auto correct would not make it useful anyways. I not down notes on the iPhone for todo lists and things like tha for coding but nothing more.
What we need is a max script editor app on the iPhone that auto corrects and colour codes for us.
Solution for Notepad++

But i don`t know if Notepad++ can be started on iPod.

I like that idea
And have autocomplete do useful things like “for i = x to x do ( ) ” Case of… etc…
The script worked pretty well, I wrote 90% of it on the iPod (I’m not flash enough for an iPhone) and just had to write the last bit and bug check when i got in.
on my iPhone I got this app called ‘FTP on the go’. Lets you connect to a webserver, has its own browser, has a built in editor, and allows you to transfer any kind of file. lately i’ve been using it to play around with some python on the net, but i’ve done some maxscripting in it as well and i can say it’s not too painful. it’d be really nice to have the scite editor coupled with an ftp program though – hint hint wink wink nudge nudge…
how hard would it be to write a python script that accepted a ms file, then simulated what max’s debugger does – checking for errors, syntax, etc…? a bit beyond my level at this point
I have FTP on the Go as well but not really tried it for coding. I’ll have a poke and see what I get.
this is spendy for an app but it looks the most promising…
