[Closed] How to transfer toolbar between computers?
Hey,
I’ve created my own toolbar with few macroscripts and i want to trasfer it to few other max work stations.
What is the easyest way of doin it?
Hay roli!
Take a look at the Custom User Interface Files section of the docks, that might help.
It has functions for getting, setting, saving (as) and loading configuration files…
Don’t know if this helps, but it’s worth a try!

Hey RustyKnight
Thank you for your replay. I already know how to save\load UI schemes. What i’m looking for is an easy way to save one spesific toolbar with the macros on it and easyly load it later.
Must i found the macros in max ui directory and copy them and then create on another computer new toolbar and drop the macros again? this so hassle…
Ahhh, talk about picky
Depending on if you want to automate the process, you could do a quick search of forums for CUI. I believe some one has document the CUI file format (even in a small manner). This would allow you to extract the data you need and write it back to the file. It is only a text file, similar to a ini file.
Using the macro ID, you should be able to obtain the source macro information and copy it automatically. Unfourtantly, getting that information is a little more difficult. I used macros.list to:[stream] and, using a string stream, parsed the stream for the information I needed. Not pretty, but it worked…

Shane, that wouldn’t work either, since macroscripts get a unique ID per machine, depending on the count of already installed macroscripts… so if one machine already has some extra macro’s installed, it would be out of sync. I already pulled out many a hair to build a user friendly menu systeem that just works… but for now, it’s a custom loader like found all over scriptspot. Autodesk should really really improve menu and mcr handling!
