For the past year or so I’ve been working on a side project. It’s taken a year because having a daughter really sucks away the “free time for side projects” pretty quickly.
I wanted to see if MaxScript could be used to write an entire 3D, graphical, animated game. I’ve discovered that, for the most part, it’s possible. Please download and enjoy MaxJack.
After you install the game you’ll find a new category called “Games” in your Customize UI dialog. You can map a key, set a quad, drag an icon to a toolbar, etc… For the textures to look their best you should have the two “Match Bitmap Size as Closely as Possible” checkboxes in the video driver configuration dialog enabled.
When you launch the game your current Max scene is held. When you’re done losing all of your money to the house and quit your scene file will be fetched so you can go right back to work.
