[Closed] buckyball script 1.00 – radiolarians
Hello, I just wanted to post a new script that I’ve been working on …
Screenshot:
Description:
The user can create buckyballs (geometric shapes of carbon atoms consisting of 12 pentagons and a varying amount and arrangement of hexagons), other fullerenes, radiolarians, soccer balls (european footballs), golf balls, or any number of other interesting geometric shapes. Cancel out of the Chamfer floater to create other fun shapes with the vertexes and edges that get selected on the base geosphere.

This page will tell you more about the script and give you a link to download it. There is also a macroscript on that page if you would like to create a shortcut on your UI for it. When you download it, the extension should be .mzp but sometimes downloads as .zip, just change the extension after you download it. Let me know if this script helps you at all or if you run into any problems installing it or using it. Thanks guys !
hey nice script, i shall try it when i gets a chance, can see some great possibilities for this, thanks dude
mate i’m really impressed, now i curse AOL for not getting me back up online at home :’(
really want to play with this script
This is great. Nice work driverjase! One thing you might mention though is how processor intensive this can become with the higher poly shapes (Ie a bucky ball (12 segments) at 2 iterations of a meshsmooth really brings my cpu to a halt). You might want to include a checkbox or something that will have the shape perform the meshsmoothing at render rather than in the viewport. At least do it for the users who are too lazy to go to the meshsmooth and directly do it…
That’s a great idea, i’ll definitely look into that … I was initially going for the wow factor once the script is done running, but I think a checkbox would be the optimal solution there.
could someone please email the script to beard-g@orange.net so i can pick it up on my mobile and bluetotth it to my pc, coz my internet at home isnt working
Hey gavinb,
I sent the script to your email address.
Let me know how it works for you.
Hey Cryptite,
I just updated the script to include the meshsmooth checkbox and then, if meshsmooth is checked, it goes to one more screen to apply the amount of meshsmooth you want … including the render amount.
Same link as above: http://www.digitalflipbook.com/maxscripts.htm
Let me know how that works out for you.
Hiya, thanks the script works really well, pretty speedy even with mesh smooth applied, i havent had chance to properly play yet, but the computer i’ll use it on is just being sorted, i’ll post some shots of what i’ve done
