[Closed] Biped and SkinPose

many years I haven’t worked with Biped and used it as a skeleton for Skin…
And now I found that *Bip ForeArms and Bip Calfs don’t assume Skin poses.

It’s easy to check:

select any of these bones

“set as skin pose” using max UI for example

rotate the bone

“assume skin pose” – DOESN’T return to the skin pose.

All other Biped bones work as expected.

Is it how it always been? or it’s a recently added bug?
(i have the earliest version MAX 2012 and it doesn’t assume poses as well as all versions higher)

Biped always had it`s own ‘Skin Pose Mode’ in the form of the ‘Figure Mode’ located at the Motion-Panel->Biped rollout.

thanks… i know about that…*

but it’s not the same as using skin pose.

my client’s skeleton is a combination of biped and custom bones. i want to provide a universal ‘skin pose’ interface

Maybe you could store those skinpose transforms on custom properties on only those misbehaving CS Biped bones… and with your own “Assume Skin Pose” command you call the standard skin pose function, and then use your script to reset those misbehaving bones from the stored matrix in their custom property?

What i have done in the past was once I set Skin Pose on the biped is to mute *the animation tracks on the controllers that control the extra added bones or muted the animated tracks on the bone it self, forcing it to go back to t pose,it’s a hack that I was never happy with,
Someone also told me that the set skin pose option for bipeds should also take into consideration any added bones, but I never got how to get that to work.

@denisT – I’m curious as to your plan on how to get around this CS Biped flaw?

the system saves skin pose data for any node including Biped. I made my own Assume Pose button where I call my functions in case of Biped converting skin pose data to biped transforms

very good.thank you.طراحی نما

it seems to work when auto key is on, maybe you could use that somehow.

what about in Copy/Paste rollout, create a Collection, create a Pose…dunno about props/extra ‘large’ appendages

fool around with your char, if you need to restore to a pose…just paste ?
