A lot of cool scripts use browser libraries. Are there any premade scripts that handle asset loading and thumbnail creation etc? much abliged.

Pete Addington has a cool free thumbnail browser over at Lonerobot.net – it’s called hitchhiker. It’s a Dotnet thumbnail browser which allows you to execute any maxscript code when a thumbnail is clicked. I think it even has recursive directory and filtered search capabilities…
