[Closed] advanced max script editor

just wandering – does everybody use standart maxscript editor (the one from 3dsmax studio environment “MAXScript | New Script”) ? isn’t there a much more civilized programmer solution with non-buggy code highlight, multi-tab editor or even code-insight feature people have in most other coding languages? the thought came into my mind after i saw a pluggable Python editor to be easily used inside a Blender3D.

i haven’t seen the new maxscript debugger in max8, but i have little hope something will change drastically in standart editor.

i’m not looking for an external editor that supports maxscript; i once tried external editor for Macromedia Flash scripting, but this is just not comparable with internal editor with immediate debugging. plugin-like integration would be just perfect.

anybody has thoughts about it?

Hi Uiron,

Some people use Crimson which has maxscript syntax support (thanks to Jeff Hanna), and some people use ultra edit. There is even scripts you can get that will evaluate you script from these external editors.
Here is a link to a discussion about this already, that also contains a couple of links to the dicreet board where this has been discussed many times.

I’m a bit hardcore so use the maxscript editor ;> I can’t wait for the new debugger though!

oh, thanks for the link, it looks like it’s what i’ve needed.
