[Closed] Access the Material/Map Navigator Thumbnails
Is there a way to add a mapbutton or similair into a script that would show a small thumbnail image of the currently selected material (as it appears in the material editor slot, or the material/map navigator window).
I know it has been done in the MatManager script, so I was just wondering how it would be accessed.
My script uses a list of .mat files to select a material from to apply to the currently selected material editor slot. I’d just like to be able to preview this material before assigning it into the material editor.
Also, does anyone know of a method to launch the material editor magnify window through maxscript?
Cheers again guys,
Well, if it`s just a map you want to render you can use the renderMap function. However I was unable to find a similar method for a material.
In MatManager the preview is actually rendered in the scene without the user knowing it (hopefully!). You can see something very similar being done by Bobo here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=98&t=318191
No clue about the magnify thingy, sorry.
How cunning! Thanks for that Marco. I’d like to say that I’ve tried out your MatManager script and found it really useful! I’m only doing a similair exercise to try and learn some basic scripting.
