[Closed] Viewport orbiting – placing "Point Of Interest"

Hi Guys,

Do you have the same problem… for me it is especially annoying. When I have big object or I’m in big close up, so the major part of the object is outside of the viewport then, when I’m orbiting the viewport it turns around center of the object (I guess) which is of course far outside of the viewport too.
So… the point that I would like to turn around runs away of focus like crazy.
Of course there is an option “Arc Rotate SubObject” it works perfect but not if I don’t have any sub-object selected or I’m in object’s main root.
Going into sub-object and selecting some vertices just to orbit the viewport around it is annoying solution

I remember in Rhino it is solved pretty well.
When the problem appears you may always place “point of interest” wherever you want.
It is kinda placing camera target on (let’s say) a vertex.

…a script that allows you to create/place “point of interest” to orbit around this would be a good solution… I think.

What do you think about it?

Cheers
