[Closed] VRay to Arch & Design

I know this has been covered many times before, but all the old threads were archived, and the info in them was a bit dated.

So I’ve searched and searched, and found a few scripts that are supposed to do this… but every one that I’ve tried just doesn’t work. I’ve tried the following…

http://mentalraytips.blogspot.com/2007/02/max-9-converting-other-materials-to.html

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/gtools-material-converter

Both should work with Max 2008, but they don’t seem to. With Zap’s script, I read in the comments that it doesn’t work well with Multi/Sub, so I got another script to take care of the Multi/Sub (all objects are now seperated by material, with their own unique material), tried the script again, and nothing happens. With the Gtools script, everything seems to work when I run the script (loading bar scrolls thorugh) but again, nothing happens in the end. I know these scripts must work for some people, so hopefully someone could give me a few pointers.

Something that I just thought about while writing this… do you actually have to have VRay installed for scripts like this to work? I could see why this would be the case… and this would be unfortunate since I dont have VRay. Any chance that there would there be a way around this?

Thanks for you help.

Yes you will surely need to have Vray installed. You can try installing the demo version, that would probably work.
