[Closed] Surface shader?

Shader is like a material, but that can be something else too (like camera shader). In my case I wish to make new shader to Max what takes “pixel normals” from object and put those values to diffuse channel in RGB format.

I don’t know if it will give you exactly what you want but it will render surface normals. it’s a great plugin from John Burnett (of Footools fame).
It’s also a great example of what you’re talking about.

I can find InfoTexture only for 3DSMax R4 and I am using 3DSMax R8. Is there newer version of infotexture somewhere?

Ok. I found version what works with max 8. I have made fast test and looks like than it will do what I want. Thanks
