[Closed] Scripted Manipulators – Snap?

I’m currently researching scripted manipulators.

I found Bobo´s excellent Magnapulators package:

http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/mxs4/magmapulators/

And a spline manipulator script, by Mark Young:

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/linemanipulator

I think scripted manipulators are great, I wonder why they are not more popular.
One thing that strikes me is the lack of snap support, none of the scripts and examples i found work with object snap (endpoint, etc).

I can’t figure out if there’s a way to fix it.

Mark Young has following line in the readme:

  • Problems:
    1. Snapping probably doesn’t work as you’d like since the knots are translated
  • according to the cursor *displacement*, not position. Need to fix this.

I tried to contact him, but the e-mail isn’t working anymore.
If anyone has a fix for that, of any hints, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Marc

bobo actually gave a siggraph presentation on this very subject last year, but Autodesk are being really slow at releasing the DVD of this presentation. Shame!

Good to know…
I hope I can motivate Bobo to join this thread.

At least I’d like to know if it’s even possible to use scripted manipulators with object snap, before I try around for ages.

bump…anyone??
