Hey, I created a custom toolbar/buttons. A co-worker asked a copy of the toolbar, but I don’t know how to give him a copy of the toolbar…other than give him scripts for each button.

Go to Customise > Customise User Interface… and pick “Toolbar” tab. Right below you can see “Save…” and “Load…” buttons.
If you are using versions of max below 2013 then save .cui file:
c:\Users[color=DeepSkyBlue]xxxxx\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2012 – 64bit\enu\UI[/color]
Max 2013 and 2014 use .cuix extension. Save file in this directory:
c:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2014 – 64bit\ENU\en-US\UI
Share this (.cui or .cuix) UI File with co-worker. Hi need to put this file in the same folder and load the file
Thanks! Question…when I give him .CUI does it also give him my other tool bars. I don’t want to mess up his set of tool bars.
Yup. All toolbars are included in .cui file. Also if you are using macroscripts which are created by other user then you need to give him theses tools also.
If you want to share only one toolbar you have 2 solutions:
#1 If you know how to edit XML files then open .cui file in any text editor (notepad++ for example) and remove manualy code for toolbars that you not want to share.
#2 Save two versions of .cui files ei. first will contains all you curent toolbars. Then manualy delete toolbars that you dot’s want to share using “Customize User Interface…” dialog and save another .cui and give to your co-worker.
To restore all your toolbarst just load first .cui.
If hi not want to mess other toolbars then you need to use #1 solution.
But first hi need to save his toolbars and edit .cui. pasting code from your .cui file that include only new toolbars. Sorry but I don’t know any easier solution for this
Create your own menu and put your scripts there. Than you can safely give him your scripts and your menu creation file. I give up on toolbars long time ago.
