Can I save 16bit tiff files in Max with script? Or if someone knows 16bit tiff specifications what someone can really read would be great too.

Ok this is bug what is fixed to Max 8.

put this before rendering to a file
tif.itifio.setType(#logLUV)
32-bit tiff files can be opened with photoshopCS2
