[Closed] Question: Idea for MaxScript?

I’m a student of computer science and will start working on my ‘degree dissertation’ soon. I thought about a rendermovie for a game-developer. The science part should be some algorithms with MaxScript. First I thought about L-Systems. But I think that is a little to much for me as a ‘newbie’ in MaxScript right now

Can anybody help me in finding some good ideas how I can realize a small movie with the help of MaxScript algorithms, please?

I don’t quite understand what you mean by a “a rendermovie for a game-developer” … could you explain further?

ok… right now I’m working as an artist for Kritzelkratz3000 a german game-developing studio. I work as an 2D and 3D-Artist and studied computer-science. The idea for the degree dissertation was to realize a small movie (maybe an intro for the studio or something like that) with 3D-Max. But that alone wouldn’t be enough for the dissertation. So the idea behind it is to use selfprogrammed algorithms to get a ‘cool’ effect for the movie.

So maybe you can help me in finding some ideas what is possible to realize with MaxScript, what will be cool looking and so on…

take a look in there, i’d say your question falls in the ‘too broad’ category :shrug: (no pun intended)

if you don’t even have an idea what kind of short you want to make how can you expect us to come up with ideas for a maxscript… if you don’t give us the slightest idea of what you want to do this is a vast field…i think you should develope a concept for a short first and then think about what things you can automate with maxscript for example.

IF you want to do it the other way around (because, if i see this correctly, you main goal is to incorporate a complex max script) a good place to start is a forum search around here… there have been a lot of elaborate projects in the past that might inspire you (crowd simulation, car physics and so on)

Just do something that the basic software can’t do :wip:

The answer ‘crowds’ is a good example for what I was looking for. Thanks!
As I said I’m totally new to MaxScript and just needed some help to go ‘in the right direction’. I don’t think that’s a ‘too broad’ question.

I don’t want a ‘worked out’ idea. I just want to know what is possible to realize with MS and maybe where are the limits of it.
I know the limits of Max but not the limits of MaxScript.

I’m searching the forum, but maybe somebody can help me in finding some basic concept (like crowds) which wasn’t mentioned here (like L-systems)?
