[Closed] Problem with springs and ragdoll in reactor

Only been learning 3ds Max for a few weeks now, and having a few probs with reactor.

Here’s the (simplified) scenario: One box centred at the origin, another a metre or so exactly above it The lower box is unyielding. Ragdoll constraint applied between the two boxes, allowing the top box to rotate in a cone only a certain amount.

The problem now starts: Dropping a set of spheres on top of the top box makes it rock from side to side (on all sides), but when the spheres have all dropped off the box doesn’t right itself. I tried attaching small boxes to the top and bottom boxes with both a Link constraint and an Attachment constraint, and then a Spring constraint between the two smaller boxes, but the spring doesn’t seem to do anything: the box doesn’t rotate back to the centre.

The larger picture is that I’m using this kind of setup to attach a load of links in a dead snake formation – the links must be able to rotate in a cone a certain number of degrees (hence the Ragdoll constraint), but there must be certain amount of resistance to moving the links: like shoving a stiff hose down a bend in a pipe.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!
