[Closed] Looking for a symmetry script

Hmm…for some reason my last thread didnt post, so if it eventually does post I apologize.

Anyways, I am looking for one of Bobo’s maxscripts called “Symmety .041b Macroscript Source” I found a link up on his page on script spot but it appears to no longer be available.

The description of the script is “Symmetry lets you transform vertices and faces on the one side of a symmetrical EditableMesh
and have the other side follow the same transformations”

If anyone knows where I can grab it or of any script that may do something similair I would greaty appreciate it. Thanks!

See my response in the main forum, try the symmetry modifier, see if that does what you need.

Hi Neil, thanks for the reply. I guess we have kind of a special case scenario here, I will try to describe it in as best detail I can.
We have a model with specific material ID’s and UVs set up already, and are making lower res versions (LODs) based on that model by deleting edgeloops, collapsing and such.
We had thought of using instancing or symmetry modifiers but we would really like to keep our UV’s intact as best we can and keep our material ID’s set up as best we can (the model has a ton of very specific ones assigned).
I was hoping to find a script that would basically repeat the same operation on the opposite side of the model without reeking too much havok on the UVs or material IDs.

Hope that clears it up a bit, thanks!

Thanks for clarifying. I’m afraid then I don’t have a solution for you, best of luck!

We use it here and it is really great.

Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate your input.

RobGalanakis – Thats a hell of a useful script you posted thanks for that. Not exactly what I was looking for ( I don’t even know if what I’m looking for is really possible :p), but I will definitely make some use of that, again thanks!
