[Closed] Loft Object Deformation Toggling

Hi all,
I’m making a relatively complex rig with a lot of surface attachments on a loft and am scripting up a set of buttons in order to turn all the complex stuff on and off so that the animators can do their job.

I’ve managed to get the attachment constraints toggling and the turbosmooths toggling but cannot find any way of toggling the Deformations rollout options in the Loft object (i.e. Scale, Twist, Teeter, Bevel, Fit). Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information,

Sebastian

From what I know, none of the loft properties are open to scripting because the core part of max which deals with it comes from one of the first versions when maxscript was not around. It seems like there are no plans to rewrite that part of max soon either. Since max 8 i’ve been using sweep which is open to scripting but I am not sure if it would be of any use to you.

You could wire the deformation properties of the loft object to some control objects and operate your scripting on those… Like angle manipulators for twist, etc. or rig up the source splines that make your loft so they can deform, and control deformation that way. Spline Select the spline -> Linked Xform to a point -> toggle the linked Xform modifiers on and off… ?
