My main problem was using the simulated rope spline and then skinning it to my characters tentacles. So in order to do this, I needed the spline to have sections along it to use for the skin rather than being one object.
So for instance in your example, the purple ropes are just splines that have not been skinned to any mesh? That’s what it looks like! ( Sorry not at home so I dont have max to open your file )

Yeap, that’s it, they’re not skinned, they’re just normal reactor ropes with a constrain to deforming meshes, and then reactor calculates them.
