[Closed] LightRigger BETA

Good work man. Keeping the software compatible with Max 3 to 9 is admirable.

Light

Thanks, Light.

Keeping it compatible with Max 3 and 4 took an incredible amount of work, but it seems to have been well worth the effort. So far, the Max 3 and 4 installers have accounted for roughly 1/3 of the total installer downloads.
I’m actually a bit stunned by this… :buttrock:

Thanks for the input, Mike…I’ve just replaced the old one with a new 11-minute Flash 7 video that includes audio narration.

For 3D Studio MAX R3.1 users:
I’ve uploaded the 3D Studio MAX R3.1.0.1 Network Rendering patch to www.lightrigger.com.

The patch fixes a slowdown that occurs when network rendering shadow maps, so LightRigger scenes are drastically affected by it. I tested a LightRigger scene in MAX 3 without the patch, and it network rendered about 50% slower than the normal render. With the patch, both render times were the same.

cool!

I’ll spread the word.

Georg

Thanks, Georg. Sorry for not responding earlier…this weekend was very busy.

I’m currently setting up an e-commerce service for sales and an online forum for LightRigger users. I’ll post here when they’re up and running.

I’ve completed the End-User License Agreement and updated the installers with it, as well as changing the term “Evaluation Mode” to “Trial Mode” in the UI to match the language of the Agreement. Its a cosmetic change only, so there’s no need to reinstall with the new version…I’ll be making other changes in the docs soon, anyway.

I’m waiting until I have the sales service completed before I post the full price list, but I’m looking to have single licenses go for $25 (Commercial) and $15 (Non-Commercial) with huge volume discounts starting at 5 units and ending at 100 units.

I’ve had some trouble today getting the LightRigger.com domain to forward to the TerraTools.com domain, but you can link directly to it.

New LightRigger Site: http://www.terratools.com
LightRigger Forums: http://www.terratools.com/forums/

Sorry for the trouble, but I’m hoping to get this worked out tomorrow. After that, either domain will reach the same website.

A few suggestions about the site:
@1600×1200 it doesn’t work well in firefox
-frames are evil. Can’t you go css+tableless? here a useful link to automatically (well, almost automatically) make tableless sites: link

Doesn’t work well, or doesn’t look good? Is something not displaying?

Are they not working?

Have you looked at it in firefox? You would see the issue with the H2 tag immediatly.

Nope…don’t even have other browsers installed at this point. I’ve got bigger problems to deal with at the moment (e.g. my dead site), and since IE installs with max, users with other browsers will know to switch to IE for now.

Yea, domain lookup can be a pain. It could be just taking a while for DNS servers to be populating your IP changes across the internet. It can take up to 3 days when you move a domain to another IP.

I don’t think they will switch, but just assume your an unprofessional and may stop visiting your website. Don’t take offense, but that’s what it looks like to people who are using firefox. Your also using frames which is another bad web design approach.
