[Closed] Is it possible to change timeline numbering with a script?

I tried this as a general 3dsMax question and got an answer of no it’s not possible. So I was wondering if a script could be written to solve this problem.

Was discussing this with some of my buddies, I’m animating in Max at 24 fps so my keyframes fall mostly on 6’s. It would be really convenient if I could change my timeline to be based on 6’s (6, 12, 18, etc.) rather than 5’s (5, 10, 15, etc.).

Is it possible to change the timeline numbering from 5’s to 6’s?
Any help is appreciated.

The short answer is “No”.
The more complex answer is, there are scripts out there, for example one by Grant Adam and probably more, which REPLACE the track bar with a scripted alternative timeline. The real timeline gets hidden and a scripted UI gets docked at the bottom. So theoretically it would be possible to script something that lists frames any way you want them. The trouble is that displaying thousands of keys and supporting all the features the real track bar has would be either difficult, too slow or impossible. So it would be more of a hack than a real solution.
Creating a plugin with the SDK to replace/extend the track bar might be a better idea.

In general, I would suggest sending this to the wish list. It would be better implemented as part of the core system.
