[Closed] Instance TrackView controller to controller

paul i just made a quick demo of the script and posted it on my blog here

it’s also already part of the soulpix script package i posted further down on the site

another thought about the material thing, a disadvantage of this would be that you cannot access materials from the param wire editor, but with a custom interface that wouldn’t be a problem of course.

The graph is looking great. I like the way that it works so far.

Sure you can but the material has to be added to an object. So I’m wondering if that is possible that the material/until nodes could just get added to an object in the scene or rig.

i haven’t had the time to work on the graph for a long while, i hope i can make this into a real tool sometime soon!

about the material thing: of course! maybe one object to collect all of them…

Why not a set of modifiers instead of materials?

another good idea. maybe another one… how about controllers on a modifier, maybe one could implement sort of an in-out controller that does the calculations in between. that would also enable you to put it on any max object you like…

I wonder about that. It would need to be something like a point2 controller that would take one for the input and one for the output. In some cases you would want several inputs and out puts. I don’t know if this would work with the way that controllers are desinged to work. Interesting thought though. Still a little more confusing then having seperate nodes that you connect together.

a point2 controller, yeah that may work. i wish i could get our c++ guy over here to look into this, but he’s terribly busy for now

that’s not a problem when used in conjunction with helium, you could easily have a controller represented as a node with in/out sockets right next to the actual scene nodes

Re: Maya Utility Node

Look up “Math controller” at maxplugins.de

It’s a plug in Kees Rijnen wrote. Unfortunately his site never seems to be online (to me, anyway), but if you can flag his attention maybe he can shoot a copy to you.

looks like somebody already had the discussion we just had for himself hehe… i’ll take a look at this as soon as i find the time!
