[Closed] In need of a script if possible
Hey guys, I am new to the forums and max script. I have read the tutorials that came with max and other online tutorials, but I don’t feel they will help me with what I am trying to accomplish. In all honesty, I’m not even sure it’s possible, but here is what I am looking for:
-I use max to mainly create themepark rides, mostly coasters. Before you say anything, I am not apart of the FX challange for the coaster simulation, nor do I intend to enter this one. Anyway I am using max 6, and I need a script to automatically rotate roller coaster crossties to match up with the spine and rails. Right now, I make a spline path and loft my 2d circles(rails) and 2d rectangle(spine). Then I use the twist deform to make banking and such. I use and extruded spline line for the crosstie and then use the spacing tool to space out the tie every 3 ft. along lofted path. The crossties never align correctly and I have to rotate each tie to match up. Is there a script already out there to do this, or can this be made if there’s not one already out there? If it can be made, could someone point me in the right direction and give me some pointers? Thanks in advance for all your help!
Maybe you could find some help with this plugin:
Try animating your cross beam with a path constraint use a copy of the camera’s path only lowered to where the cross beams go. then use the snapshot tool to create copies of the cross beam as t goes along its path.
Thanks for the responses, but I wanted a script more than anything. The plugin I already use for animation of the train following the path. If anyone else has any idea’s for a script let me know. I will test the 2nd idea this weekend.
