[Closed] Importing .txt file data ????

HI,

I’ve been given some 3D survey data that comes in the form below, but have no idea how to import the point cloud data it describes. The file is called timeballdata.txt or timeballdata.pts

Easting Northing Height Reflect
1577952.287766 5171802.260727 91.208298 -1173
1577944.913010 5171794.276047 86.378311 151
1577943.983597 5171795.989426 86.317459 -634
1577943.996201 5171795.987015 86.318954 -777
1577944.920578 5171794.307693 86.397110 -1388

There are pages of these coordinates, can anyone offer a solution?

Thanks in advance

How large are the files? Pretty sure i can help.

the file is 284mB, and is the 3d laser scan data from a building. 6.4million points.

Do you have ftp or webspace to post the file?

Sure, I can give you access to the PTS file from the survey company FTP, I’ll email you via your website rather than publish the codes etc.

Thanks,
R

the pts file is essentially a txt file, if you rename it .txt it reads normally.

Email coming.

what does the 4th number in each row represent?

reflection, basically it is a material definition. As the laser scans the building it gives an index for reflection to define changes in material.
