[Closed] How to kill max 2016 easy

Tried in 3dsmax 2016 SP1 and SP3, crashes in both.

Hell, good to know I wasn’t going crazy. We had that issue in Max 2015, Win7, 4k monitor. Completely random crashes related to radiobuttons and focus change. Will try again at work, thanks for reporting.

As painful as it is to admit, it’s because of V-Ray; more specifically a bug in the wxWidgets library that we use for the VFB.

We already have a fix for this and we’ll release an official patch as soon as possible.

Many apologies to anyone who struggled with this issue and thanks for reporting it!

Best regards,
Vlado

That’s great that you found the problem. How on earth did you link a problem with radiobuttons with the wxWidgets library you were using?!

taskkill /F /IM 3dsmax.exe

If you place the above into the notepad and save it as a .bat then you’ll have a quick way to kill max, I place it on the top right of my 2nd screen and hit it if Max is frozen. No grey freeze, no dialog box, just straight up murder.

I name mine killMax.bat

Nice tip. What about if you have 3 copies of Max open though?

This issue has been fixed in the latest version of Vray.

Thanks, that’s good news

A while ago I worked on a similar issue that occurred in different situations; I figured it might be more of the same…

I just test,
Win7,64 bit
Not crashed:
3dsmax 2009,2012,2014,2017
Crashed immediately:
3dsmax 2013,2016
