I was thinking about a script that could create a animated sequence avi of the viewport and also have a feature to add the animation at a different speed in the same avi file?
So I would generate my preview with the normal playback speed, along with an additional one twice/four times as fast/slow in the same avi.
Possible?

I don’t have the reference to hand but there’s example code to do this in the max script help

Blah…i’ve been digging around in there for 20 min now… Is there a particular phrase i should be searching for?
