[Closed] Calling builtin python methods via blur python
How can I call Python’s built in methods via Blur Python?
Here is a simple example of what I would like to be able to do.
sys = python.import “sys”
dir sys
Obviously this does not work. If I do python.exec “dir(sys)” all I get back is OK.
How would I go about calling Python’s dir method?
why is the python again? the max doesn’t support the python. any using of the python is a hack! i hope that the max will [b]never /b support the python. MXS + .NET is the greatest thing is in the history of max script development. no python please!
ps. i’m not against the python. i use it in maya and motion builder. but i will be very disappointed if the max will cut down the c# integration.
By “Excuse me?” I was actually implying “WTF?” You’re acting like a jackass. I had a simple and direct question, and you went off on some crazy tangent about your love for MXS & .NET and your hatred for Blur’s Python wrapper. I didn’t ask about any of that. You also called the developers at Blur (directly) and me (indirectly) hacks.
I am going to quote your posts here for you to read over again and have a moment of realization:
I’ve had a lot of respect for you in the past. I have seen endless posts over the past few years where you have been hugely informative and a great help to people who are in need. I’m just going to go with the assumption that someone has hacked your account.
Anybody else out there? I have previous tools, written in Python, that I now need to hook in to Max. I need to know how to do this because, currently, having to debug is a bit of a pain.
now is excuse me. WPF is used by max withuot any python help. i’m not a big fan of WPF in max but where is a python here?
i don’t want to look as a jackass. go to maya forum, ask any question about a python. i will try to answer. as i said i’m using the python a lot! but not in the max. well… maybe i’m a jackass but i hate any idea of any using of the python in MAX.
WTF, as in “What the f*ck?” Not WPF, which, as you stated, has nothing to do with Python.
well… i’m really tired today… i was fighting all day with max… my script that worked just fine when it was a MS started badly leak in memory when i made it MCR. and here is the python… you know what i mean…
Well, looking at the SDK blogs, things might be moving the direction of python:

what? the blur studio made a python wrapper for max. well. if you wanna use a hack just do it. is anything wrong in my train of thought?
Can’t say that I can help you Mat as it had been a long time since I used Py in Max. Does Blur have a forum or help resource?
Hey Paul. I’ve been on the blur-dev Google Code page. There is a wiki, but I haven’t been able to find what I’m looking for there. I might just be missing it or something. I don’t see any forums available to ask questions, but I did just find Eric’s email :D. I think I will send him my question directly.
I tried to install blurpython, to test if it works, it installed fine,
but its not working…
so enough testing for me…
All I know is that I haven’t seen many people talking about python scripts for 3dsmax.
and how many people really uses blurpython? successfully?
