[Closed] Attach objects to nearest face
Sep 19, 2007 12:17 pm
Hello everyone!
I have a problem over here. But I am sure you can help me. The situation:
- I have created a PFlow structure, that emits locked particles on a surface
- With the help of Bobo’s cool tool for freezing particles to meshes and Neil Blevins’s nice detacher tool I converted the particles to single meshes (let’s say spheres with the Names “PFlow_Sphere_*”)
- Now I would like to attach all these geometrical spheres to the mesh, they were formerly emitting from, but the attachment position should be exact like their current position (same face, same U & V coordinates)
Can that be achieved in a quick way? I have found that thread about attaching eyelashes, but couldn’t quite understand it…
Thank you very much!!!

Is the mesh deforming? If not, just do a simple link.
If it is deforming, you probably want to use the Attachment Constraint?

Thank you for the reply, Martin.
Yes, the mesh is deforming, so Attachment Constraint is the solution. But unfortunately I had difficulties attaching objects to random faces (by scripting). So I did a workaround, using PFlow.
