[Closed] Aligning pivot to sub-object – like an edge

I’ve spent over 45 minutes now trying to do something which takes me approx 200 milliseconds in Maya: Aligning the pivot along an edge.

I started out trying to get a Working Pivot, working by placing it onto a surface (face) but the pivot is dumb and doesn’t align with the face normal:

(Here Im trying to align the pivot to the top-most face, but it aligns to the world coords instead of the face normal)

Also tried different scripts, such as Miaau´s “Align Pivot to Direction”:

Script doesn’t work – it skews and deforms my mesh.

Can you send me the same object at miauu_u@yahoo.com. I am curious why the object is skewed. The main code that I use in my script is written by denisT. In the forum you can find more examples of how to aligh the pivot to direction(vector, normal, etc.).
