[Closed] Adding script files to run off quad menu

Hi all,

I’ve made some very simple script files that i need to access repeatly thoughout the day and was wondering if there is a quick way to add these to a quad menu (right click). At the moment i’ve got ‘Run Script’ there and then pick them from the open dialogue box.

Is there a way to skip the Run Script stage and just have the individual scripts run straight from the quad menu?

Thanks for any help

Hi,

You can place a script file on a quad menu, but first of all it has to be made into a macroscript.
Search for “defining Macro scripts” in the Maxscript Reference in help.

This explains how you need to define a name and category for your script (plus a load of other useful options). Then save the file as your script name with a .mcr extension (macroscript exension).

If you then run this script, it will be registered as a macroscript which can then be added to any menu, right click quad, button for keyboard shotgun. Again see later in the aforementioned helped section.

This means you can run your own scripts super easily.

Have a go at that, and message back if you get stuck!

Good luck ,

Rich

Thank you very much, just tried all that and works a treat.

This is going to save me so much time over the next few months!!
